The Irish Harp Centre is recognised today as an internationally acclaimed facility for harp enthusiasts. Established in 2002 by Dr Janet Harbison, an academy award winning harper, composer and orchestra director, this centre specialises in a unique aural training method that will inspire you to play with confidence, arrange music of your choice and join the world-wide community of Irish music-makers in sessions, ensembles and on the concert platform.
We have created a range of exciting and vibrant courses for 2016, which cater for all levels of harp players, and which take place in the beautiful village of Castleconnell, on the banks of the River Shannon. In this relaxing environment, learn to play the Harp or extend your skills, and enjoy village life.
Whether you are a full-time or part-time professional, a student, or if you just enjoy playing the harp, we have created a series of courses that we are sure will satisfy your needs.
Our programs are designed for all ages and stages, so that when you arrive at the Irish Harp Centre, you gain a very unique cultural experience.
The focus for all of the courses is to develop the essential skills of physical, aural, logic and memory development, as well as taking part in social music making (session playing).
Our teachers are all trained by Dr Janet Harbison in her unique aural system of encouraging the harp learner to hear, feel and understand music.
In parallel with this special learning experience, we want you to have great memories of your time here and have created a series of social activities that you can experience alongside your course. Depending on how long you can stay, we can arrange trips to Bunratty Castle, The Ring of Kerry, Trinity College Dublin, the Cliffs of Moher and, of course, the famous historical city of Limerick.
